As far as pervs looking at that breastfeeding montage, I would think that is something the participants would have taken into consideration before submitting bf’ing pictures.

If they are ok with the risk of a perv looking at the pics, then who is YouTube to make that decision for them?

I think it’s just more ignorance. However, I agree with Lizzi that waggling out tits at them is not going to help the cause.

But what will help the cause? I’m not sure.

What I really think it boils down to is men are jealous. Yes, the small-penis men of the world are jealous when they see a woman’s breast used for anything other than their pleasure. It makes them uncomfortable and they don’t know how to deal with their discomfort other than say it’s wrong. Not an uncommon reaction for humans in general.

I am wanting to know why they banned the video! I showed it to my hubby and told him what you tube did and he says its all BS!!! There is nothing wrong with the video…and I agree with him!!!

As a social media marketer who follows Youtube pretty closely, my bet is actually that it has to do with the use of the Christina Agulara (sp) song.

I highly doubt (but could be wrong) that the group paid licensing fees before using the song as the soundtrack. YouTube has been cracked down on pretty hard this year for copyright infringement. If Agulara is on one of the labels doing the crack down, then the very fact that the video WAS so popular probably got it on the radar of someone who monitors such things.

While it’s possible it was removed because of the content of the pictures, I really think they may be jumping to conclusions. I’d need to hear from YouTube before I could support any type of freak-out over this.

It’s outrageous! I ran across a video this morning of graphic anal sex on You Tube. This was not the first sexually explicit video that I’ve come across on You Tube. Why aren’t these being removed? You Tube needs to focus on the actual inappropriate videos being uploaded. I don’t let my kids surf You Tube without me because of the abundance of sexually explicit videos. What in the world is wrong with our society?

Lizzi actually has a good point. Maybe they received complaints from some of those in the video, too? Or maybe the comments got too nasty. I know that one of my favorite pictures of my son (his feet) on Flickr got waaaay more views than the rest of my pictures, and for that reason I made it private. There are some very strange people out there. Now, if Youtube comes out and says that the breastfeeding was offensive to some, then I’ll tell them to stick their heads where the sun don’t shine.

No doubt we’ll have to wait til You Tube actually responds to know the reasoning behind their actions but …. is it POSSIBLE that rather than removing it for assumably being offensive that they did so as an act of some sort of protection? Just hear me out on this one. Of the alleged 90,000 views the video got, how many of those do you really think were from mothers or people looking to learn about breastfeeding or even people wanting to support breastfeeding? It just seems, given the amount of young wannabe porn starts flashing the world on You Tube, that there are a fair amount of pervs watching as well. And I would bet good money that at least half of the page views were of that nature. Frankly, I wouldn’t want some nutjob fondling himself while watching me breastfeed. I glanced through You Tube TOS and didn’t see anything glaringly obvious, but you never know.

I’m not agreeing with Bill Maher, or any of the other people that want to ban breastfeeding in public. But let me just say that it’s only a fight if you make it one. I’m not advocating letting these type of people steamroll breastfeeding mothers into hiding, but I really and truly think that the reaction by the breastfeeding community is only fueling the fire. If we want to be taken seriously, an angry group of screaming, lactating women waggling their breasts about in front of everyone just to prove a point is probably NOT going to produce the desired response.
