It's amazing how people can easily make up excuses for choices they can make on their own.

"Those free products may stock your cleaning cabinet or snack drawer a little better, but most bloggers are not getting paid for these reviews, yet they seem to like to act like they are."

You can also easily tell if it's a promotional review or an actual seriously written review. Most people would read the latter.

I totally agree. Personally, I actually enjoy writing reviews on movies, products and such. I do not complain about it because I do have fun doing them.

I experienced burn out around the blogs sixth month. I didn't really get going again until I committed to a 109 link building explosion in January . I ended up posting 275 posts my first year and I'm Ok with that!

Part of why I've been turned off blogging myself is that I feel lost in a sea of product pushers – it's like there's no real substance anymore, or you have to dig to find it As a former corporate marketer – I get the lure of harnessing the power of word of mouth marketing – which is what bloggers touting products really is – but as a consumer I have to say I am hugely sceptical of anyone's review (if I read them which is rare) now because I have to wonder – do they like this stuff really – or are they just saying they do because they got it free? The prima donna attitude that seems to be out there just makes me laugh…

I had no idea this kind of thing happened in the mommy blogger/review world, then again, I've never clicked over to a review blog or entered a contest to win a product (oh, and I choose to live under a rock when it comes to blogging and money – after reading this, I like it under here even more).

I'm still amazed at this mommy blogging culture sometimes. Thanks for my daily chuckle/head shake.

Ack! I totally agree, but as I just finished a review (my second, in a year of blogging) for something I think is pretty cool and good for kids, I am so bummed that the timing of all this nonsense is making me feel like a cheap shill. I'm not crazy about the whole review/giveaway-as-main-purpose-for-your-blog-thing and I show that by not reading those sites (unless they're giving away something I want, of course)…. just like the rest of the thinking/blogging community, I would guess.

This is totally just another situation of much ado about nothing and it pisses me off that it is women bloggers that are stirring up the controversy to probably drive more traffic to their sites. I'll take a giveaway over THAT, any day.

This will all be a blur…as soon as some new shit storm comes up. Seems everyone is sure trying to tag a long to this "publicity stunt". If it's so lame, why write about it??
