And This Will Help..What, Exactly?

Ugggggggggg…Why did I want to do this whole PTA thing?

We had what I thought was going to be our normal business meeting last night. Not a lot going on right now, so it should be quick in and out, easy-peasy. No. Turns out the spirit shirts(wtf is that exactly?) were in, and we had to sort them out by class and put them in bags to be delivered today. Confusing as all heck, since only every other page had sizes listed on it. (The person who made the sheets up seemed to think I would be coordinated enough to follow the columns down the page if they were put one on top of the other. Fooled her!) The short meeting turned into a 3 hour ordeal, even with 4 of us working on it.

At the end of it the PTA president asked me to do a couple things, one of which was holding onto the class lists and extra shirts. We knew we came up short on two sizes and had extras on others, so we figured either we were sent the wrong number, or somewhere along the line a shirt or two got put in the wrong bag. No biggie, we could re-order what was needed, and if anyone got the wrong size we figured they’d send it back. It will all work out in the end.

So I get a call a few minutes ago from our VP of fundraising. One of the ladies in the office called and said one teacher was missing a shirt, and another got a wrong size. Ok, fine, easily remedied, right? No, not so. Instead of taking down names for me to contact them, or directing them to us, she is asking someone be in the office tomorrow morning to field any teachers or parents asking about the shirts. Do what?? :?: I have to drop Gabrielle off and take the boys to preschool, so I am now lined up to go sit in the office for exactly 20 minutes tomorrow morning, just in case someone comes in asking.

No one is supposed to meet me, I am supposed to be there, for 20 minutes, just in case someone comes in with a question.

With a 2 1/2 year old and a 4 year old.

Anyone else getting this? I’m a bit stumped. :???:

One Great Big What-a-Fucking-Week Update

I’m ready to call this week a bust and demand a do-over, anyone else??

Room mom meeting…Better than I expected in some ways, worse in others. The highlight was meeting one of my co-room moms from Gabrielle’s class and really, really liking her. It’s rare you meet someone and just instantly feel comfortable with them that way, so that was really cool. I think we are going to try to get together when the boys are over this nastiness. The low point was having a slight run-in with a Queen Bee mom. The secretary made a mistake on something when she ran off the info I needed, resulting in my not having it ready for this particular mom. Total accident, and easily remedied. Instead of being gracious about it she sat at a table with her friends talking with them and looking like she smelled dog crap somewhere. She and I will get along just swimmingly I’m sure.

Sick kids…Yuck! Damian started sounding congested and croupy Monday night, and Tuesday he was no better, so I had to take him to the meeting with me. Wednesday night he started to run a fever so early Thursday I called to get an appointment with our family physician. I was told on the phone he is no longer there, but they could work me in to see the doc who took over. WTF?????????? He used to take a day off during the week to work in hospice care, and it seems he left to do that full time. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for him, but what a shock! Saw the new doctor, and I can say it was the first and last time. Treated me like an over-reactive first time mom, stared at his chart or Damian the entire time, not once looking me in the eye. In short, no bedside manner whatsoever. That was on top of leaving us sitting in the room for 45 minutes, a full hour after my appointment time, before being seen. Ever tried keeping a 2 year old entertained in a tiny room for 45 minutes? Not fun. So we go home, and suddenly Damian refuses to eat lunch. This child NEVER refuses food, so I knew right then he really was getting worse. He napped for an hour and a half, and got up burning up. It was high enough I actually checked his temp instead of going straight to the Motrin, and he had a fever of 102.7. We picked Gabrielle up, and after we got home he laid on the couch for a good long while not wanting to get up. I ended up not going to the PTA meeting last night because I couldn’t leave him with him being so pitiful. He finally got hungry and wanted to eat, only to start coughing and throw up all over himself. I kept hoping it wouldn’t spread, but Brendan now has the cough and congestion too. Neither of them slept well last night, and they had me up at 12:30, 2:30 and 4:30 before finally getting up around 6:30.

A few other minor mishaps, but nothing noteworthy. I feel like I’ve lost a week here and will be laying catchup all weekend. If only I could catch up on some sleep!

I Know You Guys Are Waiting on the Edge of Your Seats

for that PTA update, unfortunately you’ll have to wait just a little longer.

My youngest is had a minor cold that has turned croupy. He was doing fine other than the barkiness (no fever, wasn’t slowing him down), so we took a watch and wait approach, but he started running a fever last night and is worse this morning. There will be a Dr. visit in our future today.

Keep him in your thoughts today if you would. Will update tonight.
